Practice Meet / Time Trials

Time trials are scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2003 at 5:00pm. This will be an introduction for new swimmers on what they need to do at an actual mee as well as for parents who will become acquainted with the various jobs needed to be performed at every meet! It is also a good time for families to come and root their swimmers on in preparation for the exciting season ahead!

10th Annual BBQ Dinner

Trying to come up with a fun, successful fundraising event is often difficult. During the 1994 season we had a dedicated group of volunteers (Dirk Vaa, Vicki & Doug Howe, John & Gayle Hilderbrand, Rich Puppione, etc.) step forward with the idea of hosting our 1st Annual Chicken Dinner. The event was such a triumphant success that we have continued to host the dinner (and the volunteers continue to help).

Scheduled for Saturday, June 21 this year, all team families are expected to purchase 4 tickets to this event. At registration you will be given an order form and envelope. These are due in to the office by the first meet of the season.

This event is open to the entire club, but all proceeds will benefit the swim team!

WHO: EVERYONE! Club and team members please invite your friends and family to this fun and tasty bar-b-q. Each swim team family is asked to purchase at least four tickets. Guest passes are waived for this event.

PRICES: Chicken and tri-tip dinners include your choice of meat, 2 salads, roll, dessert and beverage. COST: $9.00

Hot Dog dinner includes a hot dog, salad, chips, dessert and beverage. COST: $5.00

EXTRAS: Free raffle at 7:00 PM (one ticket per dinner, must be present to win)

DETAILS: RSVP Please put your dinner order and check made payable to Chabot Swim Team in the Pool Office by June 17. You may also mail your order to Carolyn Flack, 274 Covington Street, Oakland, CA 94605. There will only be a limited number of dinners available on the day of the event, so please plan ahead.

Swim-A-Thon

The board is always looking for ways to keep costs down for our team families. One of our best fund-raisers of the year is our annual Swim-A-Thon. Swimmers are encouraged to find sponsors for either flat amounts or per lap. Swimmers are only allowed to swim a maximum of 100 laps.

The date for Swim-A-Thon will be announced. WATCH HERE FOR UPDATES!

Special prizes at the end of the season for swimmers in each age-group who raise the most money!

BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs will be on sale, along with salads provided by swimmer families (yes... each family makes it's own salad, and then we turn around and sell it for a minimum price per scoop). Old fashioned relay races and egg tosses take place on the lawn while the crazy water relays take place in the pool. The day is capped off by the ever-favorite money dive. Kids are divided by age groups and take turns diving for money the coaches toss into the water!

Pasta Dinner / Talent Show

This event is held at the club on the Thursday evening before the Championship meet. The meal consists of pasta, garlic bread, salad (all from Banchero's!) and drinks. This carbohydrate loading evening is also accompanied by a pre-Championship pep rally put on by the swimmers and coaches. Our 5th Annual Talent Show will also be held after our Pasta Dinner. Swimmers and parents are welcome to show off their hidden talents at this big event. Starts at 5:00pm.

Thursday, July 24 - 5:00 - 7:00pm

Awards Banquet

The Chabot Swim Team Awards Banquet will be held on the Sunday immediately following the Championship meet - July 27. All the swimmers receive awards recognizing their swimming achievements during the season as well as special awards voted on by the coaching staff. The Awards Banquet is an important team function because the swimmers achievements are recognized in front of their peers and parents. It is a dress-up event.
